Prof. Camillo La Mesa was born in Rome, on Sept. 16th 1951. He got a high school Diploma (humanities) in 1971, with top rank and honours. He joined the Faculty of Sciences and got his Master (Laurea) in Chemistry in 1977, discussing a thesis on the dynamics of critical phenomena. Teaching Assistant in the years 1977-78 and 1980-1981 at the Dept. of Chemistry, La Sapienza University. Post-Doc grant for a stay at the IPPT-PAN, Warsaw (Poland), in the year 1981 and a NATO Fellowship for a stay at Lund University (Sweden) for the years 1982-1983. Researcher in Calabria University at the Dept. of Chemistry (1984-1992). As Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry he moved to La Sapienza (1992-2002). Winner of Full Professor Position in 2002, he actually is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at La Sapienza University (from 2005). The teaching activity of Camillo La Mesa spans from Analytical to General and Physical Chemistry. From 1992 he was teacher of Electrical Measurements, Physical Chemistry Laboratory, Colloid and Interface Science (either basic and advanced courses), Physical Methods for Chemistry and Advanced Physical Chemistry courses. Actually in charge of the "Physical Chemistry 1 and Laboratory" Course. Coordinator of Anglo Italian projects on Micro emulsion-based Gels (1991-93). Coordinator of the COST Action Project D5"Organisation in Multi-component Systems" and of the COST Action Project D15 "Polymer-Surfactant Interaction: From Modelling to Applications" one. Coordinator of the Colloid and Interface Group of the Italian Chemical Society (1997-2003), was in the Committee of the same group (1994-97). In the Committee of the Thermo-chemistry Group of the Italian Chemical Society (1998-2004). Coordinator of a bilateral Italian-Cuban project (2006-2010); coordinator of a Spanish-Italian project on surfactants and association colloids (2006-2010). Fellow of IACIS, New York Academy of Sciences, Italian Chemical Society and ACS. In the Directorate of Chemistry Teaching Courses at La Sapienza, (2002-2007). Coordinator of the Ph.D. School In Chemistry at "La Sapienza", (2008-2013). In the Advisory Editorial Board of Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (2003-2005). Served as a reviewer for several internationally reputed journals. Fields of interest span from micellar solutions to lyotropic liquid crystalline phases, from micro-emulsions to polymer-surfactant systems, from vesicles to nano-particles, from the fundamental aspects of electrochemistry to chemical  ducation. His technical expertise spans from basic physical chemistry (thermodynamic and electrochemical methods, transport properties, optical and electron microscopy) to NMR (PFG-SE and multinuclear NMR), from relaxation spectroscopy (dielectric,  ltrasonic and NMR) to rheology, from scattering methods (light, SANS and SAXS) to electrophoretic mobility. He has published about 130 papers on internationally reputed journals, and published some reviews on the fundamental aspects of association colloids.
