Dr. Muhammet Karabulut is a highly accomplished civil engineer and researcher, currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. With a distinguished academic background and extensive experience in structural and earthquake engineering, Dr. Karabulut has made significant contributions to both the academic and professional spheres of civil engineering.

Dr. Karabulut began his academic journey at Karadeniz Technical University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2011. During his undergraduate studies, he won a spot in the prestigious steel bridge design competition at Boğaziçi University, showcasing his early aptitude for engineering design.

Building on this foundation, Dr. Karabulut pursued a Master's degree in Earthquake Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, one of Turkey’s leading institutions. During this time, he was honored to be a scholar of the Turkish Earthquake Foundation, engaging in numerous scientific meetings and events focused on earthquake research.

In 2013, Dr. Karabulut began his academic career as a research assistant in the Civil Engineering Department at Bulent Ecevit University, contributing to various projects in the Structural Engineering Division. In 2016, he graduated from Bulent Ecevit University with a Master's degree in Structural Engineering. His academic journey continued with a joint doctoral program in Structural Engineering, culminating in a PhD in 2022 from Sakarya University and Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Karabulut had the opportunity to work as a visiting researcher at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain, further expanding his expertise in structural engineering and earthquake resilience.

Following the completion of his doctoral degree, Dr. Karabulut worked as a visiting researcher at Lulea University of Technology in Sweden, further honing his skills in advanced structural modeling and earthquake engineering. In his current role at the Technical University of Berlin, he continues to push the boundaries of knowledge in structural engineering, focusing on advanced topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and finite element modeling.

Dr. Karabulut has published over 40 research articles and conference proceedings and has been involved in eight major scientific research projects. His work has contributed to advancements in earthquake-resistant structures, artificial intelligence in civil engineering, and innovative modeling techniques. In addition to his research, Dr. Karabulut has served as a referee for more than 15 SCIE and TR indexed journals, helping to maintain the quality and integrity of scientific publishing.

Throughout his career, Dr. Karabulut has earned several notable accolades, including the 3rd Degree Result in the 5th International Dam Safety Symposium’s Academic Thesis Competition in 2018. He has also demonstrated leadership in engineering competitions, winning 1st (first) place in the DASK Earthquake Resistant Building Design Competition in 2019 and 2nd (second) place in the Concrete Canoe Competition organized by the Istanbul Technical University-ASCE in 2022.

Dr. Karabulut has also taken on key roles in organizing scientific events, serving as chairman and committee member for nine different conferences, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering collaboration in the field of civil engineering.

As Dr. Karabulut continues his postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Berlin, he remains at the forefront of research in structural engineering, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and finite element modeling, working towards innovative solutions that address the challenges of modern civil engineering.
