Dr. Georgios Xekalakis: Ph.D. Civil Engineer with expertise in seismic risk assessment and cultural heritage preservation, significant contributions have been made to earthquake engineering, interdisciplinary research, and project communication. Currently engaged as a researcher at Frederick Research Center, involvement is focused on national and European projects addressing urban seismic risk, the impacts of climate change, and the preservation of cultural heritage structures.An innovative framework for assessing seismic risks in masonry and concrete structures was developed during Ph.D. research, successfully piloted in AgiosDometios Municipality, marking a notable advancement in resilience strategies. Over the past five years, publications have been produced, including a book chapter on seismic-resilient architecture in Cyprus, and leadership has been provided for interdisciplinary efforts integrating engineering solutions with historical preservation.
Social media and graphic design responsibilities are also handled for the research center, with content created for announcements, logos, websites, and newsletters to enhance project communication. Practical experience as a residential developer and site engineer has been gained, complementing academic expertise and supporting efforts to advance resilience in both built and cultural environments.
