The range of scientific interests covers the field of system analysis and management of mining systems, improving the efficiency of electrical energy use in various industries and the national economy.
Currently, scientific research is being carried out in accordance with the priority direction of the development of science, technology and engineering in the Russian Federation: energy efficiency, energy conservation, nuclear energy and critical technologies: technologies of new and renewable energy sources, including hydrogen energy; technologies for creating energy-saving systems for transportation, distribution and use of energy. Under his direct supervision, the following scientific directions are being developed: comprehensive research and calculation of water and energy resources of high-pressure and small hydroelectric power plants; energy survey (energy audit) of electricity consumers of large industrial enterprises; study of electricity quality indicators; research, analysis and forecasting of the structural reliability of the electric power system (including hydroelectric power plants).
The range of scientific research carried out has a broad fundamental scientific direction dedicated to "Improving the efficiency of electrical energy use, improving the quality of electrical energy in industrial enterprises" and the study of water and energy resources, static and dynamic stability of high-altitude hydroelectric power plants. The theoretical and experimental studies carried out on this topic have scientific value and practical significance, they have been introduced into production and have given a significant economic effect. Much attention is paid to the issues of the stability of the power system at the cascade of Zaramag hydroelectric power plants commissioned in 2020, which is one of the energy facilities of the RNO-Alania Energy Program and a promising direction for RNO-Alania, consisting in the construction and further reliable operation of small hydroelectric power plants to meet the needs of the republic in electrical energy.
By the end of 2023, entered the 2% of the most cited scientists in the world from the second percentile according to the Scopus bibliometric database (rank 177379, in the "Geology" section he took 198th place out of 16,822 scientists in the world).
