Akeem Sanni earned his B.S. in Biochemistry with summa cum laude honors from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2018, where he was recognized as the Best Graduating Student of his department. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry at Texas Tech University under the supervision of Prof. Yehia Mechref. His doctoral research focuses on the Development and Application of Multi-Omics Strategies for Biomarker Discovery in Neurological Disorders and Cancer. Akeem Sanni has made significant contributions to the identification of protein, glycan, and metabolite biomarkers for neurological disorders such as Narcolepsy type 1, Restless Leg Syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, and Traumatic Brain Injury. He also contributed to the glycomic profiling of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein across multiple variants. Akeem Sanni developed an optimized bioanalytical method for the targeted analysis of tumor-maker gangliosides in pediatric, breast, and pancreatic cancer. He has published several peer-reviewed articles (10+) in journals including ACS OmegaCellsBiomolecules, Journal of Neurorestoratology, and Neurotrauma Reports, and contributed to 2 book chapters in Methods in Molecular Biology (Springer Nature). His work has been presented at over nine major scientific conferences, including ASMS, ACS, and the ITP Symposium. Akeem Sanni has served as a reviewer for several high-impact SCI journals, including Scientific Reports, PLOS ONEMycotoxin Research, and Phytoparasitica. In addition to his research, his recognition includes the Doctoral Dissertation Completion Fellowship, the Ming Sun Family Graduate Research Award, and the Ginny Shen Lin Award of Academic Excellence. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the American Association of Cancer Research, the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, and the American Neurological Association.
