Dr. Thomas Kretzschmar is a Senior Researcher (Investigador Titular B) and National Research System (SNI) Level III member at the Department of Geology, CICESE (Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education), Mexico. His expertise lies in hydrogeology andhydrogeochemistry, with a particular focus on aquifer development, water balance assessments, and hydrogeochemical processes.He earned his Ph.D. in Geology from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Germany.
Dr. Kretzschmar has participated in several CONACYT-funded projects, including sustainable water management in the Guadalupe River basin, and has collaborated with the European Community on hydrogeological modeling of geothermal systems in Los Humeros and Acoculco.He coordinated the specialized laboratory system of CEMIE-Geo, strengthening the analytical capacities for the study of geothermal resources.He has supervised more than 40 undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students, contributing significantly to the training of professionals in integrated water resources management.
