Professor Dr. Rozita Hassan, is a Senior Consultant Orthodontist and a renowned academic affiliated with the Orthodontic Unit, School of Dental Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). With over three decades of experience in dentistry and orthodontics, she is widely recognized for her expertise in orthodontics and dental anthropology, as well as her contributions to research and education in the field.

Professor Dr. Rozita began her academic journey at the University of Malaya, where she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1993. Her dedication to orthodontics led her to pursue a Masters in Orthodontics at the University of Malaya, graduating in 2004 with distinction. That same year, she attained membership in orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (M Orth RCSEd), further cementing her leadership in her specialty.

Throughout her career, Professor Dr. Rozita has been at the forefront of clinical practice and academic research. Her groundbreaking studies in craniofacial morphology, malocclusion, and obstructive sleep apnea have been published in leading journals, including the European Journal of Orthodontics and the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal. Her contributions have advanced the understanding and treatment of complex orthodontic and craniofacial conditions, particularly in the Malaysian population.

In addition to her clinical and research endeavors, Professor Dr. Rozita is a passionate educator. She has mentored numerous international and national postgraduate and doctoral students, guiding them in innovative research projects and helping shape the next generation of dental professionals. Her excellence in teaching has earned her multiple awards, including the Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang and the Sanggar Sanjung Awards from USM.

Professor Dr. Rozita’s leadership extends beyond the classroom and clinic. She has consulted in various multidisciplinary clinics, including cleft lip and palate, orthognathic, and sleep apnea clinics. Her collaborative efforts with local and international institutions, such as Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia, have further enriched her global perspective on orthodontic care.

A Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, Professor Dr. Rozita continues to play an influential role in the orthodontic community. She is an active member of the Malaysian Orthodontic Association, the Cleft Lip and Palate Association Kelantan, and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia.

Through her dedication to clinical excellence, innovative research, and inspiring mentorship, Professor Dr. Rozita Hassan has established herself as a prominent figure in dentistry and orthodontics, leaving an indelible mark on the field.
