Dr. Harvinder K Khera is an interdisciplinary scientist with extensive expertise in molecular biology. Her research journey spans diverse areas including protein chemistry, molecular biology, drug discovery, assay development, recombinant protein expression, downstream processing, and antibody therapeutics. Her current research is focused on advancing biosensor development using innovative techniques like CRISPR, digital PCR, etc for infectious and rare genetic diseases. She holds a humble yet impressive academic background, earning her M. Sc., in Biotechnology as a gold medalist from the University of Jammu and completing her PhD at CSIR-IIIM Jammu, J & K, India, followed by a postdoctoral experience at the University of California San Diego, California, USA. Dr. Khera has excelled in various national-level exams such as CSIR-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, ICAR-NET, and GATE, and has contributed to various scientific publications while also sharing her insights as a reviewer for SCI journals.
- My research interests lie in CRISPR-based diagnostics, biosensors, and nanobody engineering, with applications in infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. I also work on rational protein engineering approaches to develop novel tools for rapid, sensitive, and field-deployable diagnostics. Broadly, my goal is to advance molecular technologies that can bridge fundamental research with translational applications in global health.
