Dr. Jiawen Wang, MD, Deputy chief physician, Coloproctology Department, Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her clinical expertise is integrated traditional chinese medicine management and minimally invasive surgery for anorectal disorders and endoscopic interventional management of inflammatory bowel disease and its complications. Her key contribution lies in advancing integrative medicine for anorectal disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. Clinically, she bridges traditional chinese medicine prevention/treatment with minimally invasive surgery, and manages complex inflammatory bowel disease cases endoscopically. Inheriting the nationally recognized Gu's Surgical Therapy, she scientifically validates these traditions through research on signaling pathways and clinical trials. This unique position equips her to expertly evaluate manuscripts for their clinical significance, surgical or endoscopic validity, and the appropriate application of traditional chinese medicine concepts in modern research, ensuring published work meets high standards for both scientific rigor and practical relevance in global gastroenterology. She is the executive director and deputy secretary-general of Colorectal Diseases Professional Committee in World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. She is also the executive director of Pelvic Floor Medicine Professional Committee in World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. She is the committee member of Colorectal and Anorectal Diseases Committee in Shanghai Association of Integrative Medicine. She is the committee member of Colorectal Diseases Committee in Shanghai Women Doctors' Association. She is the committee member of Traditional Chinese Medicine Division, Digestive Diseases Branch in Shanghai Social Medical Institutions Association. She is the committee member of Spleen and Stomach Disorders Committee in Shanghai Pudong New Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Association. She is the principal Investigator of 10 competitive grants and key researcher in over 20 major projects. She has been awarded 6 prestigious prizes and has 2 invention patents granted.
