Dr. Rajeev Jain is Assistant Director & Scientist – C (Toxicology) at Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. He has obtained his Ph.D. degree in Analytical Toxicology from CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (India). He has more than 16 years of research experience in the field of analytical toxicology. Dr. Jain is a notified Forensic Toxicology Expert by Govt. of India under section 329 of BNSS. He has examined various samples (biological, food and pharmaceutical) of more than 1600 medico-legal cases.
His research work is focused on the development of sustainable and affordable analytical methods for drugs and poisons in matrices of forensic importance. He has published more than 70 research papers, review papers and book chapters in various Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals on this subject. He has been granted one Indian Patent for his invention in the field of Green Sample Preparation. He is also acting as invited reviewer in number of peer reviewed quality journals. He has edited two books published by Elsevier and CRC Press in the field of Green Sample Preparation in Forensic Drug Analysis. He is on the editorial board of Green Analytical Chemistry (Elsevier) and various open access journals of Toxicology and Chromatography. He has received more than 1600+ citations on his research work. His h-index is 25. He is having sound knowledge of laboratory quality management system as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Dr. Jain has been listed among world’s Top 2% Scientist in the field of Analytical Chemistry for the year 2025 by Stanford University. Dr. Jain has received the highest award in the field of forensic science by Govt. of India i.e. Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak - 2025 (Union Home Minister Award) for meritorious services in the field of Forensic Science.
