Dr. Yuan-Seng Wu, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Present
Sunway University

Dr. Wu completed his Ph.D. in Cancer Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. He was then completed his short-term research fellow in cancer research at the School of Bioscience, University of Nottingham Malaysia in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia. After serving the Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing, MAHSA University, Malaysia in teaching Biochemistry to MBBS and Dentistry programs. He is now joining the Department of Biological Sciences and Centre for Virus and Vaccine Research, School of Medical and Life Sciences, Sunway University.
His research interests lie in the fields of biochemistry, pharmacology, oncology, and therapeutics, primarily in the understanding of tumor biology and microenvironment, particularly, in the identification novel molecular targets (such as genes, long noncoding RNAs, microRNAs, transcription factors, proteins, enzymes, etc.) by examining their roles in cancer phenotypes and associated molecular mechanisms. Furthermore, I am also interested in discovering potential cancer therapeutics, biomarkers, drug delivery using aptamers and nanoparticles, redox biology, cell signaling, epigenetics, pharmacological properties of natural products and associated molecular mechanisms, as well as medicinal chemistry and pharmacognosy. Nonetheless, I keen to participate in research relevant to all fields of pharmacology and therapeutics in human diseases.
