Aura Rusu is a Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Târgu Mureș, Romania. She earned her Pharmacy degree in 1994, became a primary pharmacist in 2003, and obtained a PhD in Pharmacy in 2013, followed by a Master’s in Quality of Medicine, Food and Environment (2013) and a habilitation in Pharmacy (2017). Since 2020, she has served as a full professor, coordinating courses in Pharmaceutical and Therapeutic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Drug Design. Her research focuses on pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, drug design, antibacterial agents, metal complexes, and advanced analytical techniques. She has authored 15 books and over 80 peer-reviewed papers (Impact Factor: 149, H-index: 19, in February 2026), and serves as a reviewer for more than 30 international journals. Prof. Rusu has coordinated institutional and research projects, contributed to international collaborations, and served as Guest Editor for MDPI journals (Pharmaceutics, Molecules, Cosmetics). Her academic interests include the design, synthesis, and characterisation of new compounds with therapeutic potential, focusing on their physicochemical and biological properties. She also explores the development of organometallic complexes with potential biological effects and applies in silico modelling techniques to support the discovery and optimisation of bioactive molecules.

  • Design, synthesis, and characterisation of new bioactive compounds, including medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, with a focus on therapeutic potential;
