Dr. Avula Laxmaiah holds degrees in Medicine, a Master of Public Health, a Master of Business Administration, and a PhD from NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, India. He is a distinguished public health and nutrition expert with extensive experience in research, policy development, and program implementation.

He has demonstrated strong expertise in conducting health and nutrition research, contributing to several national and state-level committees, and developing practical solutions to public health challenges. His work has significantly contributed to the formulation of dietary guidelines, including estimating nutrient requirements and recommended dietary allowances. He has also played a key role in designing intervention models aimed at reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Dr. Laxmaiah has published over 160 research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet, Nature, BMJ, and eLife, along with more than 100 articles in non-peer-reviewed platforms.

He is a recipient of several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the IUNS Training & Travel Grant, and has undergone advanced training in leading UK institutions. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and has been listed among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier (2023–2025). He also serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
