Dr. Abdulhamid Shafei Fatani is a physician-scientist with a strong clinical background and research expertise across multiple disciplines, including neurosurgery, neurology, pain medicine, regenerative medicine, gene and cell therapy, nanomedicine, Pharamcology and Mendelian randomization.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the College of Medicine, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), Riyadh, Ministry of National Guards, Saudi Arabia. He subsequently obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Cell and Gene Therapy in Pediatrics from Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health (UCLA, USA), followed by a PhD at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, University College London Hospitals (UCLH), United Kingdom. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in laboratory medicine from UQU University.
Dr. Fatani’s research focuses on innovative therapeutic approaches, including nanomedicine-based drug and gene delivery systems, gene therapy for neurological disorders and chronic pain, regenerative medicine, translational neuroscience, and precision medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals and has presented his research at national and international scientific conferences across the United Kingdom, Sweden, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, as well as globally.
In addition to his research activities, Dr. Fatani serves as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for several international scientific journals. He has supervised postgraduate research projects involving nanocarriers and gene delivery technologies. His scholarly contributions have received significant academic recognition, including competitive research awards and a growing citation record within the biomedical and translational research communities.
