Khouloud M.I. Barakat is a Professor at the Marine Microbiology Department, National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF), Egypt. Her expertise lies in biotechnological studies on marine bacteria, yeast, and fungi. She studies marine bacteria and microbial resources in different habitats. Her research includes antibiotic resistance in marine microbes and antibiotic structure–activity relationships. Marine natural products and antibiotic synergism are her main research targets. She has also worked extensively on fish microbiology and chemotherapy. Fish pathogenicity has been discussed in many of her researches and published books.
