From Environmental Toxicity to Planetary Purity: A Holistic Toxicology Agenda for Human Health, Environmental Resilience, and Healthy Longevity
Abstract
The twenty-first century may ultimately be remembered not only as the age of artificial intelligence and biotechnology but also as the age of the global exposome. Humanity is now exposed to an unprecedented mixture of environmental toxicants originating from polluted air, contaminated water, industrial chemicals, pesticides, microplastics, endocrine disruptors, ultra processed foods, and climate-related environmental degradation. Together, these factors contribute to a rising burden of chronic disease, ecological instability, reduced health span, and premature mortality.
Traditional toxicology has focused primarily on identifying toxic substances and quantifying their biological effects. While this remains essential, a broader vision is increasingly needed. The challenge facing modern society is not merely to identify toxins but to create conditions that support resilience, regeneration, and long-term health at individual, societal, and planetary levels.
