Associate Professor Maja Dent graduated from primary and secondary school in Zagreb. Since 2003 she has been working in the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology at the College of Zagreb. In 2002, she graduated from the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology at the College of Zagreb with a diploma in Food Technology. In 2013, she completed her doctoral thesis at the same faculty in the field of biotechnical sciences. She also continued her education by attending various schools and workshops on analytical methods: mass spectrometry (2013), chromatography (2018, 2019) and NMR spectroscopy (2015), then nutrition (2016), mentoring (2017) and lifelong learning (2022), as well as entrepreneurship (2015) and intellectual property (2016). In 2016, she spent three months at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the Maribor College of Applied Sciences, Slovenia, to further her academic and professional development. She is the first or co-author of 16 scientific papers, 12 of which are indexed in the SCI -expanded database. As a researcher, she was actively involved in a total of 3 scientific projects. She participated in many international congresses with 5 oral presentations and 18 posters where she presented her research results. As a co-author, she won the prize for the best poster at the Total Food 2014 congress in the United Kingdom.

During her employment, the applicant actively participated in teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Faculty of Food and Biotechnology (Analytical Chemistry, Introduction to Chemistry and Chemical Analysis, Instrumental Analysis, Chemistry I) and in study programs at the Faculty of Health (Chemistry and Biochemistry). She successfully supervised 7 theses, 4 diploma theses and 1 doctoral thesis. The active participation of students in the scientific research work of Maja Dent Ph.D. resulted in the publication of 1 scientific paper with an undergraduate student and 3 scientific papers with a doctoral student. She participated in the popularization of science at the Science Festival in Zagreb in 2021, 2023 and 2024, where she led the workshops "Essential oils and hydrolates - from production to application" and "Do not throw away the citrus peel! Isolate the essential oil! ".

She has held and currently holds positions at her home college. Since 2021, she has been a permanent member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Food and Biotechnology (2015-2021). She is a member of the Informatization Committee of the Faculty of Food and Biotechnology (2015-2019 and 2021-present). Since 2016, she has been a member of the Croatian Society for Food Technology, Biotechnology and Nutrition in Zagreb.

Her scientific work includes the isolation of biologically active compounds using environmentally friendly extraction methods from wild plants and their chemical analysis with potential antioxidant activity.
