Dr. Tao Ruan earned his PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received a Master's degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Ruan's research spans several cutting-edge areas including crisis informatics, computational social science, social computing, and electrified transportation. Throughout his career, he has collaborated extensively with renowned institutions such as the USGS, UC Berkeley Seismology Lab, and Livermore National Laboratory, contributing to a series of impactful publications.

An active member of the academic community, Dr. Ruan has served as a peer reviewer for over 50 instances across prestigious journals and conferences including AAAI ISWSM, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Computers in Human Behavior, Scientific Reports, etc. He has also been invited to serve on the committees of numerous international conferences.
