Dr. Alphonse Kayiranga is currently a research associate at Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG-CAS). Dr. Alphonse is skilled in remote sensing and geo-informatics applications in ecohydrology and landscape monitoring and management. Currently, he is working on modelling land and atmosphere interactions, specifically modelling the eco-hydro-climate characteristics using different process-based models; Remote sensing, in-situ observations and reanalysed datasets; and Geo-Informatics techniques. Dr. Alphonse has a Bsc degree in Information systems, Msc and PhD degrees in cartography and GIS obtained from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. During his academic and research time, he developed more skills in environmental-based computer programming and machine-deep learning for environmental and earth science monitoring. During his research career, he has published over 36 peer-reviewed scientific papers asfirst/corresponding author and co-author. (Please see the following link: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Alphonse-Kayiranga/research. Apart of publishing high quality research papers, he has been guest editor in different peer-reviewed journals including Water/MDPI and lectured modules related to Remote sensing and Geo-informatics in different universities including University of Lay Adventists of Kigali, Rwanda.
