Prof. Jianhua ZHANG is working at Institute of Ocean Renewable Energy, Harbin Engineering University. In 2008, he received PhD in Structural Engineering from Beijing University of Technology, China at 2008. He was a visiting professor at Western Sydney University, Australia and a short-term academic visitor at University of Strathclyde, UK.

Currently, he serves as an executive member of Ocean Engineering Administrative Committee in China, a member of Maritime Technology and Research, a member of Professional Committee of wind power of China, a review expert for the Ministry of Science and Technology's High-Tech Research and Development Center and the “Thousand Talents Program”, a reviewer for the Natural Science Foundation of China, and an expert reviewer for the Natural Science Foundations of Beijing, Shandong, and Zhejiang Provinces. He is also a reviewer for the Ministry of Education Degree and Graduate Education Development Center, the Ministry of Natural Resources Science and Technology Awards, the Harbin Science and Technology innovation projects, Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Wind Power Engineering Materials Committee of the China Composite Materials Society, a member of the CECS Anti-Wind Disaster and Wind Energy Utilization Committee and the National Marine Science and Technology Terminology Approval Committee.

He has been a guest editor for the special issue “New Era in Offshore Wind Energy” in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering, an editorial board member of Maritime Technology and Research, and an executive director on the board of the journal Ocean Engineering. His research mainly focuses on offshore wind power, the structural mechanics performance analysis, design, and safety operation and maintenance technology of wind, tidal current, and other marine energy systems. He has made innovative achievements in coupling response mechanisms, disaster failure modes, and vibration control and protection technologies. He has led and completed over 20 projects, including those funded by the National Key R & D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Heilongjiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the National Key Laboratory Fund. He has also participated in several research projects under the National 863 Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, and various applied research projects, contributing to the design and analysis of multiple engineering projects.

As the first author or corresponding author, he has published over 60 papers in academic journals, compiled 6 industry standards, translated 1 book, published 3 textbooks, and holds 36 authorized invention patents and 21 authorized software copyrights. He has received numerous awards, such as the First - Class Marine Engineering Science and Technology Award (ranked 1st), the Second - Class Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Education (ranked 3rd), the First - Class Science and Technology Progress Award in Electric Power Engineering (ranked 3rd), the First - Class Science and Technology Progress Award from Heilongjiang Province (ranked 5th), and the Second - Class Achievement Award in Higher Education from Heilongjiang Province (ranked 4th). His current main research directions are: 1. Offshore wind power structure design and operation; 2. Vibration control of marine platform structures; 3. Comprehensive efficiency enhancement of offshore wind farms.
