I have been working in the field of biochemistry for over a decade. My research work has been diverse and involves studying the Na/K-ATPase-mediated cell signaling pathways in different diseases, such as metabolic disorders, cancer, hematological diseases, and neurological disorders. My research experience and academic background have provided solid biochemistry and cell biology knowledge. As an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Cortes (UFSJ, Divinopolis, Brazil), who evaluated the biochemical and metabolic syndrome aspects in drug-addicted patients. Also, I was able to develop my monograph under the mentoring of Dr. Santos and Dr. Barbosa (UFSJ, Divinópolis, Brazil), studying the effect of head and neck cancer in the lipid profile of erythrocyte and tumor environment and NA/K-ATPase activity as well. During my MSc and Ph.D. research, I conducted studies with Dr. Santos and Dr. Barbosa to evaluate the effect of new hemi-synthetic cardiotonic steroids as specific ligands for isoforms of the NA/K-ATPase α subunit promoting neuroprotection against brain ischemia using in vitro and in vivo models. Since obtaining my Ph.D. in February 2022, I joined Dr. Sodhi's research group. My postdoctoral research is based on basic and translational research projects, primarily concentrating on adipocyte dysfunction and its implications in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney diseases, cardiovascular dysfunction, and neurodegeneration. Furthermore, my clinical research endeavors involve human clinical studies aimed at elucidating signaling pathways associated with prominent pathophysiological conditions prevalent within the United States population, notably obesity, Alzheimer's disease, chronic kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease. These efforts are directed towards developing therapeutic strategies and other practical applications.

• My principal research focus is to investigate the regulation of the cellular antioxidant defense system in pathophysiological states associated with chronic oxidative stress in cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and neurodegeneration as well as their associated long-term complications caused by Na/K-ATPase-mediated Src signaling.
