I am Dr. Vino Paideya, Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry & Physics at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN), South Africa.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science (BSc) with Chemistry majors and a Ph.D. in Education. I have 31 years of teaching experience which spans over both secondary and tertiary education. Over the years I have attempted to advance Science education through education of scholars, research projects and publication of my research articles. My research interests are first-year student experiences, chemistry teaching and learning, curriculum development, student academic support and technology-based pedagogy. Further, I have engaged with the University of KwaZulu Natal teaching and learning office over the years on several institutional research projects. I have also developed many international research collaborations viz. through hosting a Fullbright Scholar from August 2021 to April 2022. Secondly, I was elected as the South African coordinator for the US International Study of Peer Leaders 2022-2023 project.  Lastly, my current research interest involves a project with the UK Learn Science programme. This project examines students’ experiences of online Prelab simulations and activities in first year Chemistry.
