Dr. Surya Kanta Swain is now working as a Founder Head of the Institution & Professor at Amity Institute of Pharmacy, PIC (Research & Development) Amity University Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Dr. Swain had previously served as DeanPharmacy Paramedical Sciences& Director of Research & Development at K.K. University, Nalanda, as well as Dean of Research, Principal (Pharmacy), and Dean at the Assam Kaziranga University (NAAC Accredited), Assam, which included 14 different programs and 9 Departments. Dr. Swain has established one AMC center under PvPI, Govt. of India 36 laboratory infrastructures, Increased the 60 to 100 intake capacity of the B.Pharm Course, and introduced 5 new emerging P.G.& Ph.D. programs such as Master in Optometry, M.Sc. Microbiology/Clinical Research, Master in MLT (Medical Microbiology), MPT (Neurology and Orthopedics) and the design of course structure and syllabi for the need of the North Eastern Region of India based on course/program/program specific outcomes at the Assam Kaziranga University.

Dr. Swain recently applied for 4 research project grants as a Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator under the Funding Agencies such as SERB, ICMR & BIRAC of Worth 1.5 Crore and received a SERB-CRG Grant of Rs 69 Lakhs in the year 2022. He has completed his Ph.D. from Berhampur University, M.Pharmacy from the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, &B.Pharmacy from Berhampur University, Odisha, by Qualifying GATE/NIPER. So far, he has more than 18 years of blended experiences in Industry, Teaching, Research & Development from a higher level Academic Administrative role as a Head of the Institutions/Director/Dean of Research/Dean/Principal /Associate Dean/Vice-Principal/Head/HoDs/Research Coordinators/Chairman of Anti-ragging Cell, University Examination Committee, IQACetc. at different Universities/Institutions.

Dr. Swain has published more than 155 Research/Review/Editorial/Opinion Articles of Scopus/SCI-E/Web of Science/JCR/UGC care listed peer-reviewed/Impact factor International/National Journals of Springer/Elsevier/Taylor & Francis/Informa Health care/Bentham Science etc. with the highest impact factor of 14.7 (Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B Journal), total cumulative impact Factor > 100, total Google Scholar Citations: 3334, H-Index=27 and i¹⁰-Index=46, Total Scopus Citations: 1965, Scopus H-Index=22, and Research Gate Score: 40 with Core Research Domain Area of QbD Enabled Formulation Design, Optimization and Characterization of Mucoadhesive/Self-Emulsifying/Gastro-retentive/Transdermal/Nanoparticulate Drug Delivery Systems.

He has edited 10 National Textbooks as per the New PCI Syllabus of M.Pharm and B.Pharmcourses as an Editor-in-Chief, published 8 International Textbooks and 50 National Book chapters as an Author/Co-author of reputed publishers such as Taylor & Francis, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, Bentham etc. Dr. Swain has 1 Indian Patent Grant & Published 2 Indian Patents from the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India. Such innovation is also covered in the Times of India E-Newspaper. Dr. Swain is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology and a permanent Advisory/Editorial/Reviewer Board Member in more than 100 National/International Scopus/Web of Science, and UGC care listed Journals. Dr. Swain, now Ph.D. Research Supervisors/UG/PG/Pharm-D Practical External Examiners/Ph.DAdjudicators/Evaluators/Question Setter and Members of Board of Studies (Chairman)/Academic Council/IQAC/RAC/IRC/UDRC/NACC as a chief school level/NBA coordinator/R & D/External expert member of selection Committee of various Universities such as Amity University Kolkata, K.K.
